Biography

In 1983, John Bongiovi was a gofer at New York City's legendary Power Station recording studios. He met Chip Hobart a DJ at the Long Island/NYC radio station WAPP. Hobart wanted to include John's song "RUNAWAY" on a LP that the radio was recording. John didn't want to donate his song for a to the radio, but he agreed. After that decision, John's life would never be the same. WAPP wanted to make live shows to promote the album and wanted John to perform. The problem? John didn't have a band! So he asked some friends to play with him: the keyboardist David Bryan, the drummer Tico Torres and the bassist Alec John Suc. After one of these shows, John met Richie Sambore, he said that he should be the guitarist for this band. John was really impressed by his talent, so he started to play with them.
